Beheaded is guitarist Taehun Lee and pianist Jared Redmond. Their unique free music is a chimera, synthesizing Lee and Redmond’s diverse influences and experience as solo and ensemble artists. Elements of contemporary composition, the blues, noise improvisation, metal, and extended performance techniques flow into seas of meditative ambient harmonies and modal meanderings. A single performance often transforms from tender, religious atmospheres to punk-like, savage energy. Beheaded’s first album, Beheaded-1, was released in 2018. Their second, Beheaded 2, was released in 2025. In addition to performing at the opening of the 2024 Korean Improvised Music Festival, they have been a fixture at small music venues, bars, and experimental music basements in the Western alleyways of Seoul since 2016.
